We strive to support students as they navigate college to reach their academic goals. Our large team of expert advisors helps students understand their path to graduation and make the right decisions to earn their degrees in a timely fashion. We offer class suggestions, provide insight, and help you understand how to use available tools to stay on track toward the completion of your degree.
For first semester freshmen, as a new student, you will actually get blocks scheduled by our advisors. You don't need to worry about are the courses that I'm taking, correct? Are they going to count? Am I going to mess up in any way? We're going to provide you a schedule, and if there's any adjustments that you want to make, you can talk to the advisor, and we will make those adjustments. But you will know coming in your first semester that your schedule is set and good to go, and then each semester after that, you'll have the opportunity to sit down with an advisor and discuss the courses you want to take to make sure that those count towards your degree progression.
So one of the first conversations that we typically have is what we like to call an intake appointment. During this appointment, we'll sit down with you as a student, and we will say, what is your goal? Most students will say that their goal is to earn a degree and that's great. Some students will say that they want to earn a degree that will lead them into a particular career or profession, and the advisor will then help create a sort of a strategic plan to help you achieve that goal. Whatever that goal may be, they're going to create steps and guidance for you to get there. We are here to provide you information and provide you guidance, but we're not going to make the decision for you. You are going to be an active participant in your own education. We're simply here to provide the information and we're always there to provide the information if you need it. But the choice is ultimately yours in terms of how you want to pursue that degree or your goal, whatever that goal may be.
